Ormecon (Zipperling Kessler) takes over
Monsanto’s Polyaniline activities

Background...

Ormecon Chemie, Germany, a subsidiary of Zipperling Kessler, and Monsanto Company, St. Louis, USA, signed an agreement according to which Ormecon acquires Monsanto´s conductive polymer business. With this transaction, Ormecon (Zipperling) is completing its patent and technology portfolio in conductive polymers (Organic Metals) and will continue its successful market introduction.

The terms of the acquisition will be held confidential.

Ormecon Chemie, now located in new facilities in Ammersbek near Hamburg, Germany, was founded by Zipperling Kessler in January 1996 as a 100% subsidiary with exclusive focus on the Organic Metal Polyaniline. This German medium sized company has performed basic research on chemistry, processing and properties of conductive polymers for almost 20 years now.

It established its own technology based on dispersion of polyaniline "ORMECONTM", and found out about polyaniline’s metallic character, and owns a broad patent portfolio covering polymer synthesis, processing (dispersion), blend and paint technology as well as applications of conductive polymers (Organic Metals).

The market introduction of ORMECONTM is based on its noble metallic character and parallel its catalytic abilities. For corrosion protection and in printed circuit board production, the surface of conventional metals is treated with a suitable ORMECONTM dispersion. Ormecon Chemie has introduced several corrosion prevention coating systems (CORRPASSIVTM) for various anti-corrosion purposes, and a new surface finish for printed circuit boards (ORMECONTM CSN).

In consequence, Ormecon Chemie and its holding, Zipperling Kessler, have a unique and extensive patent asset including all world-wide important composition of matter, process, and applications patents on the field of conductive polymers and Organic Metals for exclusive use.
