Zipperling Kessler & Co: Company History until 1996

The company is more than 190 years old and still privately owned by actually 4 shareholders: Dr. Bernhard Wessling, Tilmar Hansen, Almut Scherzberg, Inge Ullner.

Zipperling was a German compounder, producing masterbatches and specialty compounds. We are a privately owned company that employed almost 300 coworkers (mid of 1996). We produced well over 25.000 tons per year at two production sites, which made us one of the leading masterbatch and compound producers in Europe. Our specific offer to the market was: "Make your innovation our problem". So, in order to be able to deliver the most advanced technology in masterbatches and specialty compounds, we performed basic and applied research especially devoted to optimal dispersion. The most recent basic innovation: the organic metal polyaniline. (Informationen über Polyanilin auch auf deutsch) which is brought to the market by Zipperling's subsidiary Ormecon Chemie.

Then, mid of 1996, a major change happened
after which Zipperling changed to become holding:

Zipperling sold its compounding and masterbatch business
to Clariant and will now exclusively focus on
research, development and market introduction
of organic metals with its subsidiary Ormecon Chemie.
